Tiramisu

 Tiramisu is an elegant and rich layered Italian dessert made with delicate ladyfinger cookies, espresso or instant espresso, mascarpone cheese, eggs, sugar, Marsala wine, rum, and cocoa powder. Through the grouping of these diverse ingredients, an intense yet refined dish emerges.

How to make Tiramisu

SERVES 4

Ingredients

225g  mascarpone

25g icing sugar

150ml strong brewed coffee, chilled

300ml double cream

45ml coffee liqueur

115g savoiardi biscuits

50g dark chocolate, coarsely grated

unsweetened cocoa powder, for dusting

Procedure

STEP 1

Line a container with a clear film. Put the mascarpone and icing sugar in a bowl and beat for 1 minute. stir in 30 ml of chilled coffee.

STEP 2 

Whip the cream with 15ml of liqueur until thick, then fold into the mascarpone mixture. Spread half mixture into prepared container. Mix the remaining coffee and liqueur in a  shallow dish.

STEP 3

Dip half biscuits into the coffee mixture, then arrange on the top of the first layer of the mascarpone mixture. Then spoon the rest of the mixture over the biscuits.

STEP 4

Dip the remaining biscuits in the coffee mixture, and arrange them on top. Cover and chill for at least 4 hours. Turn the tiramisu out of the container and sprinkle with grated chocolate and cocoa powder. serve it cold.
